Capture the Bond

Horses have been part of my life since I was five. I grew up in the equestrian world and understand firsthand the work, the tears, and the bond that comes with loving a horse. As soon as I could hold a camera, I was photographing my horses and my friends with theirs. That desire to capture the connection between a rider and their horse is what started my love of photography.

When I lost my own horse, I realized I didn't have enough photos — not the right kind. Not the ones that showed our quiet moments together, the nuzzles, the way he'd rest his chin on my shoulder. That loss drives everything I do now.

That's why I don't photograph action shots at shows or riding photos from the rail. I create portraits — the kind that capture the bond you share with your horse in a way that stops you every time you walk past them.

Sessions for Every Rider

Equestrian Senior Portraits — Your senior year is a milestone. If horses have been part of your journey, they belong in your portraits. These sessions honor both who you are and the partnership that shaped you.

Equestrian Branding — If your business lives in the horse world — whether you're a trainer, an equine vet, a barn owner, or an equestrian brand — I'll create a collection of images that tells your professional story with the same warmth and authenticity I bring to every session.

Horse & Rider Portraits — No milestone needed. If you love your horse and you want that bond documented beautifully, that's reason enough. Whether your horse is young and full of fire or older and slowing down — every partnership deserves to be remembered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do equestrian sessions take place?

I come to you. Most sessions happen at your barn, training facility, or an outdoor location near your property. I'm based between Florida and Chicago, so I'm most active in Wellington during equestrian season (January through April), throughout Ocala and South Florida, and at barns across the greater Chicago area and upstate New York. If you have a specific location in mind — a field, a historic barn, a beach — I'm happy to travel.

My horse can be anxious around new people. Will that be a problem?

Not at all — I understand the worry. I was an equestrian my whole life, so being around horses is second nature. I know how to move slowly, read body language, and give your horse the time and space they need to feel comfortable. Sessions are calm, quiet, and pressure-free. Most horses settle in within the first few minutes once they realize I'm not a threat. Your horse's comfort and safety always come first.

How should I prepare for an equestrian portrait session?

After booking, I'll send a planning guide — wardrobe suggestions based on your horse's coloring and the location, grooming tips for session day, and a timeline so you know what to expect. I recommend scheduling during a quieter time at the barn and having a handler present. I handle all the creative direction — you just show up and be with your horse.

What Riders Are Saying

“I almost didn't book this session. My mare is 24 and I kept telling myself we'd do it 'someday.' I'm glad I didn't wait. Emily was gentle with her, patient — she let my girl set the pace and never rushed a single moment. When I got my gallery back, I cried. She captured exactly what I see when I look at my horse. These are the most meaningful photos I own.”

“Emily photographed my daughter's equestrian senior portraits. She's been riding since she was six, and her horse has been with her through everything. Emily understood that right away. The photos aren't just beautiful — they tell the story of their partnership. My daughter has the canvas in her dorm room and says it's the one thing that makes it feel like home.”
